There are over one hundred species of Drosera family that eat insects. the best known are the venus Fly-trap. In natural conditions, they grow in water logged places such as swamps. water prevents their roots from getting the oxygen and nitrogen that they need to survive.
Insect-eating plants find a way around this difficulty by attracting and devouring insects, which provide them with protein (which contains oxygen and nitrogen)
SUNDEWS:
Sundews, are carnivorous plants. They use a thick gluey goo called mucilage to trap and digest their prey. The mucilage is attached to special hairs called trichomes. They are one of the most common carnivorous plants. They have at least 188 species.
Venus flytrap plants can't eat anything much bigger than a housefly and mostly they eat mosquitoes and gnats. If you put the tip of your finger in the flytrap's bug eating mouth, it will quickly snap shut, but it won't hurt at all.
